1. Introduction
ConvoVault is designed with a privacy-first architecture. The application allows users to archive, search, and interact with AI conversations locally on their own devices. This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled when using ConvoVault.
2. Local Data Storage
All conversations imported into ConvoVault are stored locally on your device. The application does not upload, transmit, or store your conversations on any external servers controlled by ConvoVault.
Your chat archives, search indexes, and conversation data remain fully under your control.
3. Imported Data
Users may import conversation exports from third-party AI providers such as ChatGPT, Claude, or other platforms.
ConvoVault:
- Parses these exported files locally.
- Stores the content locally for search and analysis.
- Does not send imported conversations to external services unless explicitly requested by the user.
4. AI Model Usage
ConvoVault supports two types of AI processing:
Local Models
Users may run local AI models (such as LLaMA or other local LLMs) directly on their device. When using local models, all processing happens entirely on the user's machine.
External AI Providers
Users may optionally connect external AI providers by supplying their own API keys.
If this feature is used:
- Requests are sent directly from the user's device to the selected AI provider.
- ConvoVault does not store or proxy API keys through any ConvoVault servers.
- Users should review the privacy policies of the respective AI providers they choose to connect.
5. API Keys
API keys entered by the user are stored locally on the user's device. ConvoVault does not collect, transmit, or store API keys on external servers.
Users are responsible for managing and protecting their own API credentials.
6. Offline Functionality
ConvoVault is designed to work fully offline for core functionality, including:
- Viewing archived conversations
- Searching across chats
- Using local AI models
Internet access is only required if the user chooses to interact with external AI services.
7. Data Collection
ConvoVault does not collect personal data, analytics, or telemetry from users.
No usage data, chat content, or personal information is transmitted to ConvoVault servers.
8. Third-Party Services
When users connect external AI providers using API keys, their data interactions are governed by the privacy policies of those providers.
ConvoVault is not responsible for how third-party services handle data sent to them.
9. Security
Because all data is stored locally, the security of conversation archives depends on the security of the user's device. Users should take appropriate measures such as device encryption and secure backups.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated in the future to reflect improvements or new features in ConvoVault. Updated versions will be published with a revised "Last Updated" date.
